President’s Corner: Marriott Expands Footprint in Asia-Pac

Marriott LogoFrom China to the Philippines – and everywhere in between – robust macro-economic tailwinds are helping to boost Gross Domestic Product in Asia-Pac at rates above those of the developed world.

BirchStreet’s products and services are a natural complement to the growth and infrastructure investment in these areas.  As a business process improvement tool, our technology provides a means to control operating costs, providing either protection or leverage to weather any economic climate.

Marriott, a BirchStreet customer, has properties dispersed throughout the Asia-Pac region and is constantly looking for ways to improve business processes and provide a consistently positive guest experience. To that end, BirchStreet is meeting some very unique needs for Marriott in Asia-Pac.  For example, this region (China in particular) has a very complex tax system and supply chain, as well as large inventory demands.  BirchStreet is providing solutions specifically tailored to each of these problem sets.

Our application is sufficiently flexible to accommodate any tax regime or regulation – it’s this flexibility that allows us to stand out from our competition.

Additionally, China is a suppliers market.   BirchStreet’s robust tools make it possible for Marriott’s Asia-Pac properties to track and monitor price changes made by their suppliers.  This transparency keeps each party honest – and serves not only as a tool for protection, but also helps to enhance the customer/supplier relationship.

Asia in general sees very high inventory demands,  and our full integration (with eProcurement) gives properties a solution to seamlessly track, fulfill, and replenish inventory stocks by using a scalable, familiar solution.

Over the past several months, BirchStreet has added more than 28 Marriott properties in Asia – with more to come! Properties include:
