Last year, we offered an exclusive look at BirchStreet’s Recipe Management Application. Since then, our Product Development Team has introduced even more sophisticated enhancements.
The enhanced Recipe Management Application dashboard is the first screen you see when you log into the administration area of the system. From here, users have an at-a-glance overview of operations.
In the Create New Recipe screen, we have included new fields for calories and total fat. These show a running total for the entire recipe and are updated instantly as you enter ingredients. In the ingredient line level, you can see calories and fat grams for each ingredient in your recipe so you know what ingredients are having the biggest impact on the recipe’s total calories and fat grams. You can also drill into each ingredient and see its full nutritional profile. A great new feature is the Nutrition tab that pulls up a USDA nutrition facts label for any given recipe.
Another notable advancement is the application’s intelligent recipe costing. When a recipe is linked to your suppliers, you can view recipe cost in total and down to the individual ingredient level. All the conversion rules needed to compute supplier prices by case into ingredient cost at the recipe/ portion level are built into the system. With the recent increases in the cost of food, this is an important tool to manage food cost and maintain profitability.
A tool for menu planning, the new Menu feature helps you to manage and organize multiple menus at any given property. This tool has special features for banquets and event recipe management.
Also offering robust enhancements, BirchStreet’s Recipe Pad–the mobile version of our Recipe Management Application optimized for iPad and other tablets–offers a rich user interface. Find out more about the Recipe Pad, the industry’s first Recipe Management solution designed for mobile technology, on our website and be sure to find us this summer at HITEC to learn more about this offering as well as our entire procure-to-pay application suite.

Looks great! Would love to see it in action
